Moving Home
Before you move, know what happens to your mortgage
Moving home means deciding what to do with your current mortgage as well as arranging borrowing for the next property. You may be able to stay with your lender and port your existing deal to the new home. If you need to borrow more, the extra amount may be on a different rate. Your lender will still need to assess you and the property before agreeing to the move.
Alternatively, you could repay your current mortgage when you sell and arrange a new one with a different lender. This may give you more options, but we’ll also need to consider any early repayment charge and the costs of the new deal. Whether you’re moving within Stockport, from Hazel Grove to Marple or further afield, we’ll compare both routes and explain what they mean for your monthly payments and overall costs.
Our close connection with Lawler & Co means we understand the wider buying and selling process too.
